Popular producer G Ramachandran passed away early this morning at his home after a few days of illness. His wife R.P. Poorani passed away due to a cardiac arrest only a few days back and he was said to be very much affected by it. He was 73 and is survived by his sons Sivakumar and Saamy Kumar.

G. Ramachandran made his acting debut as a child artiste in 'Kalathur Kannamma' which also marked the debut of Kamal Haasan. He later acted in films such as 'Naatupura Paatu', 'Ettu Patti Raasa', 'Veera Thaalaattu', 'Manuneethi' and 'Rajadhi Raja' among others.

He also owned the GR Gold Films banner under which he produced several films including 'Manu Neethi', 'Sound Party', 'Kaasu Irukkanum', 'Enga Raasi Nalla Raasi' and 'Kadhaliyai Kaanavillai'. Many celebrities in the film industry have expressed their condolences to the veteran on social media and over the phone. RIP!
