Veteran Kannada actor and former minister M.H.Ambhareesh (66) has passed away on Saturday evening at a private hospital in Bengaluru. He was admitted their after he complained of breathlessness. The actor-politician is survived by wife and actress Sumalatha and son Abhishek.
Ambhareesh made his acting debut with a supporting role 'Nagarahavu' directed by Puttanna Kanagal in 1972. Step by step be turned into a leading film star in Kannada and earned the moniker 'Rebel Star'. he was mainly known for his portrayal of "angry young man' hero in various films. He has acted in over 200 films and this includes Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam film. His Tamil films are 'Thai Meedhu Sathiyam' and 'Priya' in which he co-starred with Superstar Rajinikanth and Sridevi. He acted as Sridvei's love interest in that film. His last film 'Kurukshethra' is scheduled to release in December 2018.
The veteran joined the Congress party in the year 1994 and has served as a Lok Sabha member for three terms and also a Minister of State. He was also the state minister for Housing in the previous Congress Government headed by Siddaramaiah.
