Famous malyalam actress Parvathi who worked with Dhanush in the movie Mariyan slams the jury after ONV Literacy award was announced to Vairamuthu. After the massive outrage on social media the jury has decided to re-examine the decision.
Parvathy in her twitter posted a photo in all caps stating "ONV sir is our pride. His contribution as a poet and lyricist is incomparable; how it has nourished our culture. Our hearts and minds have benefitted through his body of work. This is exactly why it is immense disrespect to give such an honour in his name to the accused of sexual assault crime."
Following her filmaker Anjali Menon wrote "ONV Sir’s name resounds with deep sensitivity, dignity and respect for any Malayalee. Therefore very disturbed to know that ONV Academy has chosen an alleged perpetrator (called out by 17 women) for the #ONVAward. Are these the values they celebrate?,”
Musician TM Krishna also joined the protest and said that it is shameful that our society validates and give more strength to a person who had been called out ny several women as a sexual predator.
It is notable that singer Chinmayi accused Vairamuthu on sexual assault through #Metoo movement which brought out the uglier side of many people not just in India but all throughout the world.
