The wait is over! The much-awaited teaser of actor Nivin Pauly's Thuramukham movie has been released online. Unveiling the teaser on his official social media handle, Nivin wrote, “Finally here it is!! Super happy to share #ThuramukhamTeaser #RajeevRavi." Throughout the griping teaser, we see an intense avatar of Nivin Pauly and all other characters. It may be noted that the movie was slated to hit theaters on this day as Eid release. However, the release date had to be pushed owing to the second wave of COVID-19.

Thuramukham is an adaptation of a play of the same name, which was originally written by KN Chidambaram. Just like the play, the movie will revolve around the famous protests against the Chappa system that existed in the coastal areas of Cochin during the 1950s. Chappa was a feudal system that was used as a method for the distribution of work, according to which copper coins were thrown at the workers waiting for work. The ones who managed to grab the coins were guaranteed the job.

Nivin will be seen as Moidu, a Mattanchery-based port labourer in the film. The teaser does give a glimpse of the chaotic system and the struggles and humiliation the laborers undergo due to this.

Thuramukham marks Rajeev Ravi’s comeback as a director after a gap of five years. His last directorial outing was the critically acclaimed Kammatti Paadam in 2016. Apart from directing the movie, Rajeev Ravi has also handled the cinematography.

Apart from Nivin Pauly, the ambitious movie will also feature Indrajith Sukumaran, Joju George, Manikandan Achari, Arjun Ashokan, Poornima Indrajith, Darshana Rajendran, Sudev Nair, and Biju Menon in pivotal roles. Nimisha Sajayan, the Kerala State Film Award-winning actress appears as the female lead opposite Nivin Pauly in the movie.
