A senior official of the private hospital where Mithun Chakraborty is admitted told news agency PTI on Sunday that the veteran actor and BJP leader is 'quite stable' and improving health-wise. "Yesterday, veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata after complaining of severe chest pain." He is 73," PTI reported.
An official from the medical facility said Mithun is recuperating well, is fully conscious, alert, and has been on a soft diet. Before being discharged, Mithun will undergo further tests. The actor has already undergone an MRI, among other medical tests, at the hospital.
On Sunday, news agency ANI shared a video of Mithun in the hospital. Mithun is seen sitting on the hospital bed in the video. The doctor spoke to him in Hindi and asked him to drink some water, informing him of his health condition. Mithun made some remarks, pointing towards his feet.
West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar also met Mithun at the hospital on Sunday. An official statement by the hospital recently disclosed that Mithun has been diagnosed with an ischemic cerebrovascular accident (stroke) of the brain. He was admitted to the hospital after complaining of weakness in his right upper and lower limbs.
It further stated that Mithun is currently conscious, oriented well, and on a soft diet. A team of doctors, including a neuro-physician, a cardiologist, and a gastroenterologist, is further evaluating him for a few more tests.
Mithun, who has received the Padma Bhushan Award this year, 2024, began his career in acting with Mrinal Sen's "Mrigayaa." In the course of time, he gave some really magnificent performances in films like "Disco Dancer," "Agneepath," "Ghar Ek Mandir," "Jallad," and "Pyaar Jhukta Nahin." Mithun joined the BJP at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 7, 2021.
