The shocking news of popular character actor and director G. Marimuthu passing away has shook the Tamil film industry. The 57 year old apparently suffered a sudden massive cardiac arrest and breathed his last at 8.30 am this morning. He is survived by his wife and two children.
In 1990 Marimuthu, ran away from his home at a young age to from Pasumalaitheri in Theni headed to Chennai aspiring to become a film director. He worked as an assistant to lyricist Vairamuthu for a several years. He later joined actor- director Raj Kiran as an assistant director and later was associated with such filmmakers as Mani Ratnam, Vasanth, Seeman and S. J. Surya, before getting the chance to work as a co-director in Silambarasan's 'Manmadhan'
Marimuthu made his diretorial debut with 'Kannum Kannum' starring Prasanna and Udhayathara which didnt do well at the box office. His other directing credit includes 'Pulivaal' released in 2014.
Marimuthu then made a shift to acting through Mysskin's 'Yuddham Sei' and followed it up with noticeable performances in several films including 'Pariyerum Perumal', 'Vikram' and 'Jailer'. However it was his role as the adamant male chauvanist Aadhimuthu Gunasekaran (AGS) in 'Ethirneechal' serial on Sun TV that made a trending star throughout the Tamil speaking world.
Marimuthu's upcoming movies include 'Indian 2' and we join the Tamil film industry in condoling his untimely death. RIP!
