Actor Joju George clashes with Congress workers; Car attacked

On Monday, Kochi city witnessed high drama after Congress workers organized a protest against the fuel price hike. The party worked staged a siege on the Palarivattom-vytilla bypass, causing major vehicular traffic block in the busy road. Actor Joju George who was stuck in the route for almost an hour, confronted the Congress workers for blocking off the road and soon scuffle broke out leading to unruly events. "I'm not here to show off. This protest is affecting people who are en route to their destinations for various needs including hospital emergencies. They are struggling to make both ends meet amid the pandemic," the actor said while engaging in verbal duel with the Congress workers. The party activists broke the actor's car glasses and soon the Police Police had to escort Joju away from Vyttila .The Congress district leadership has filed a complaint against Joju alleging that he misbehaved with a woman leader and also charged him saying he was drunk.
Meanwhile, Joju George refuted the charge that he was drunk. “I used to drink heavily. I quit the habit five years ago. I don't regret questioning the protesters. I'm not going to apologise,” he said. When asked about the allegation that he verbally abused women activists, Joju said, ““I am someone who values women and respects them. I didn't talk to any women. One can check the visuals if I did something bad,” he clarified. He further added, “I don't think I have done anything wrong. All I say that it's not right to protest by blocking the public road.” The actor had suffered minor injuries in the attack by the protesters.
Meanwhile, several netizens have come forward in favour of Joju's act. Many social media users have applauded the actor for taking a stand and have started trending the hashtag #SupportJoju. On the work front, Joju was last seen in Malik. His movie Star is currently running in theatres. His upcoming release is Thuramukham.
