Actor-Director Manoj Bharathiraja Passes Away at 48 Due to Heart Attack

The Tamil film industry is in shock following the sudden demise of actor and director Manoj Bharathiraja, son of legendary filmmaker Bharathiraja. Manoj, 48, reportedly suffered a fatal heart attack despite having undergone heart surgery and being in recovery at home.

Making his cinematic debut in 1999 with ‘Taj Mahal’, directed by his father, Manoj went on to star in films such as ‘Alli Arjuna’, ‘Varushamellam Vasantham’, and ‘Samudram’. His most recent acting role was in the 2022 film ‘Viruman’. In addition to acting, he ventured into directing, with his film ‘Margazhi Thingal’.

According to sources, Manoj had been receiving treatment for his health condition over the past few days. Unfortunately, he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest today and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him deceased.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin extended his heartfelt condolences, stating:

“I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of actor and director Manoj Bharathiraja. He carved his own identity in the film industry, following in the footsteps of his esteemed father. His untimely demise is a tremendous loss. I extend my deepest sympathies to Bharathiraja and his grieving family, as well as to his colleagues in the film fraternity.”

The film industry and his fans are mourning the loss of a talented artist whose contributions will be remembered.
