Actor Dharmajan booked in a cheating case

The Kerala Police booked popular Malayalam film actor Dharmajan Bolgatty for allegedly duping a man of Rs 43 lakh as part of a business partnership. According to the Police, the actor was booked along with 10 others in a case based on the complaint, an NRK returnee named Asif Puthukattil. According to Asif, actor Dharmajan and his friends cheated him after receiving a whopping sum of rupees 43 lakh in various instalments by cash and through bank fund transfers.. Asif said that he was promised a franchise of Dharmoo's Fish, a business venture for fish sale owned by the actor. Though Dharmajan promised a huge profit in the business, the actor is said to have not kept his word and did not supply fish steadily to him. Due to this, Asif is said to have suffered a huge loss in the business.
Reportedly, Dharmajan is the first accused in the case. Other accused persons are- Kishore Kumar PV, Taj Kadeypparambil, Lijesh, Shijil, Jose, Grandy, Fijol, Jayan, Nibin and Febin. "We have charged non-bailable offenses against the accused persons and they will be summoned for interrogation soon. Based on the investigation, we will decide whether the accused persons have to be arrested or not. A detailed statement of the complaint will be recorded soon. We are also checking the bank transaction made by the complainant to the accused persons," a police officer said. More details are awaited.
Dharmajan Bolgatty, who started his career as a stand-up comedian and then hosted several comedy TV shows and stage programmes, stepped into the cinema with the 2010 Dileep starer movie Paapi Apache. Since then, the actor has acted in more than 60 Malayalam movies.
