Dhanush has been involved in a bizarre controversy where an aged couple from the Melur Taluk claim to be actor's real parents.

Kathiresan and Meenakshi, an aged couple from Thiruppavanam, had alleged that Dhanush, originally named Kalaiyarasan, had deserted them since he became an actor in 2002. The couple, who filed a complaint, sought a maintenance money of sixty five thousand rupees from the Melur Judicial Majistrate Court.

The Madurai branch of the Madras HC, had summoned the actor to be present at the Court, to verify certain birthmarks on the actor as claimed by Kathiresan and Meenakshi.

Dhanush arrived at the Court today morning amidst chaos. The Court has ordered a Govt. Doctor to probe the birthmarks on the actor's body at the Judicial Chambers and has adjourned the Case to March 2.
