Vivek is a legendary comedian and multi-talented film personality in Tamil cinema. At the age of 59, he passed away in April 2021 due to a Cardiac arrest. On the film front, Vivek was acting in a pivotal role in Kamal Haasan's 'Indian 2', directed by Shankar.
The film's shooting was halted due to production issues and the COVID pandemic. During the lockdown time, Vivek died before he could finish the shooting of Indian 2. Notably, Indian 2 was supposed to be the first on-screen combination of Vivek and Kamal Haasan. Fans were heartbroken that they wouldn't be able to witness the legends sharing screen space.
When Indian 2 was revived by the production houses last year, several reports broke out that a popular actor might replace Vivek's character and his portions will be filmed again with the new actor. Now, the happy news is that Vivek will be seen in Indian 2. Actor Bobby Simha, who plays an important role in the film, confirmed this in a recent interview.
Simha was asked about Vivek during an interview with an entertainment portal. The actor said, "Vivek sir and the other members of the cast and crew surprised me on my birthday on the Indian 2 sets back in 2019. He became very close to me during the shoot. I miss him. We took many photos on that day. I have treasured those pictures."
Talking about Vivek's role in Indian 2, Simha added, "Vivek sir's portions will be there in the film definitely. A different version of him will be seen in this movie." Going by this interview, it is clear that the makers haven't replaced or ruled out Vivek's part in Indian 2. With music by Anirudh, the much-awaited film is the sequel to Kamal and Shankar's 1996 blockbuster.
