The coronavirus pandemic that has been ravaging the entire world for the past five months has at last count infected 48,46,427 persons in India and claimed the lives of 79,754 so far. Many celebrities and politicians have also lost their lives including former President Pranab Mukherjee, TN politicians H. Vasanthakumar and J. Anbazhagan.

The sad news has come that Ajit Das the veteran Odia actor has lost his life to COVID 19. The 71 year old is said to have tested positive on September 1st and got admitted to a private hospital and was under treatment but succumbed to the virus. He is survived by his wife and three children.

Ajit alumni of the National School of Drama, has more than 60 Odia films to his credit hasl also produced several others. He headed the department of drama at Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Bhubaneswar.for a period too.

Several film personalities and politicians are condoning he death of Ajith and Union minister Pratap Sarangi said, “I am saddened by the demise of Ajit Das. His absence will create a big loss to the Odia film industry.”
