What is common among the three most important Sankranthi releases - The Businessman, Bodyguard and Nippu? Well, the three films are action-romantic capers, although the elements of action and romance in the film are there in varying degrees. While PJ's film, that ostensibly adrenaline pot boiler will be high on action, the other two films are not too far behind in the element.

Starring Mahesh Babu, Venkatesh and Ravi Teja for whom bashing up the baddies is as much a cakewalk as it is for them to strike a romantic chord in the lady, these films, the combined budget of whom is said to touch the billion mark, are awaited by all sections of the audience. Their markets are not limited and they can woo the audience across A, B and C centers.

Directors Puri Jagannadh, Gopichand Malineni and Gunasekhar are this time giving us the much-needed relief by (hopefully) touching upon new themes. The Businessman, set against the mafia backdrop in Mumbai, is character-oriented. In rehashing an old story like Bodyguard (which was recently interpreted by a Bollywood film of the same name), the script-writers of Venky's film are definitely making a big-time attempt to surprise the audience. An interesting love story with twists and turns, Bodyguard is raising our eagerness by the day.

YVS Chowdhary has been speaking high about his production, Nippu. Gunasekhar has ceased to surprise us (despite the humongous sets in Arjun, Sainikudu and Varudu), but he may well amuse us with clean masala stuff.
