'Achchamundu..', 'Pasanga' emerge winners

As the seventh edition of the Chennai International Film Fest (CIFF) came to a colorful end on Thursday night, Tamil film ÂAchchamundu..Achchamundu.. directed by Arun Vaidyanathan won best feature film award and ÂPasanga directed by Pandiraj adjudged the best second feature film in the Tamil competition section.
Cinematographer Rajesh Yadav won special jury award for his wonderful camera work in ÂPokkisham directed by Cheran. While announcing the awards, head of the jury for Tamil film competition, cine actress and director Revathy said that the jury selected ÂAchchamundu..Achchamundu.. as the best film for handling very sensitive, un-talked subject of child abuse.
Members of the jury, Cinematogrpher Kannan and Bharath Kumar (News Today) shared their experience while announcing the awards.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Suhasini Mani Ratnam has said "The most cherishing news here is that today best films from India are made in Tamil only."
According to S Ve Sheker, Vice Chairman, CIFF, the biggest challenge faced by Chennai International Film Festival is lack of adequate funds.
Actor Prasanna, cinematographer Rajesh Yadav, CIFF patron S Kannan, CIFF Chairman B Ramakrishnana and festival director E Thangaraj also spoke on the occasion.
The closing - award ceremony is followed by the screening of Romanian film ÂKatalin Varga directed by Peter Strickland.
