'Acha Dhin' is one movie which rode on the star status of Mammootty. But it looks like even the meagastar will not be able to save this one blooper of a movie. The movie does try hard to be engaging with its thriller mode, but somehow it does not manage to hold the attention. The politics in it, the money lending chains, the terrorism, call for unity all appears dull and lackluster.

The story line though has the novelty of a non-Keralite, a Jarkhand wallah named Durgaprasad settled in Kerala for the past 20 years and working as a cleaning staff at Lullu mall with a beautiful wife too withers as the plot progresses. What starts out promisingly, becomes a run of the mill story. Vijeesh of 'Enmmanuel' fame has scripted this movie and it lacks the punch in places.

It is surprising that Mammootty gave his dates to Marthandan, whose previous outing with him for 'Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus' did not do well. 'Acha Dhin' too does not do anything for the two of them. Also, Mammootty's look in the movie has by now become the talk of the town, all for the wrong reasons. The weirdly done hairstyle and dressing has invited quite a lot of ridicule. It is also a matter of dismay to see Mammootty's acting in the movie. The actor who has proved himself time and again as an actor par excellence need to choose his roles with care.

Hardcore Mammootty fans may overlook the glitches. But any cinema lover can easily see through the chinks that even a 'megastar' title cannot hide. The movie has only a duration which is less than two hours, which in a way is a blessing.

The other actors in the movie including Mansi Sharma, Rateesh's son, Renji Panikar all get lost somewhere along the way and nothing much can be said about their performance, because the movie by itself was below par. The music by Bijipal is one of the positives of the movie.

Overall, 'Acha Dhin' can be enjoyed by the fans but fails to impress on a cinematic level. It will remain one of Mammootty's forgettable outing.
