Nearly a year after the brutal murder of former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina's uncle and cousin, the mastermind behind the robbery in Punjab and the main accused, identified as Chajju Chaimaar, has been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police.
Suresh Raina's uncle Ashok Kumar, 58, died on the spot after suffering head injuries when three to four members of the Kale Kachhewala gang attacked them while they was sleeping on the terrace of their house at Pathankot's Thariyal village on August 19. Ashok's son Kaushal, 32, had succumbed to his injuries on August 31. Later, the special investigation team (SIT) formed to probe the case arrested three members of the inter-state gang of criminals. Following the incident, Suresh Raina had withdrawn from the 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) and returned home.
Following the incident, an FIR was registered against the accused members under sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting with weapons), 149 (offence committed in prosecution of common object), 458 (house breaking), 459 (grievous injury due to house breaking), 460 (causing death due to house breaking), 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) at the Shahpur Kandi police station in Pathankot.
