Acclaimed director Visu passes away

Veteran actor-screenwriter-director Visu has passed away on Sunday due to prolonged illness. The 74-year-old battled kidney-related ailments for several years, undergoing dialysis. His last media interaction was just a fortnight or so back when he vehemently opposed the remake of one of his movies that starred Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead.
Visu started his career as a stage actor and writer and went on to assist the legendary K Balachander before making it as a screenwriter for several films including Rajini's 'Thillu Mullu' and Kamal's 'Simla Special' in Tamil. It was Balachander-produced 'Kudumbam Oru Kadhambam' that catapulted Visu as an actor-director of repute in 1981. After this, there was no looking back as he churned one family entertainer after another in Tamil and Telugu, too.
The Telugu movie 'Adade Adharam' was a remake of 'Penmani Aval Kanmani'. And his 'Thirumathi Oru Vegumathi' was remade in Telugu as 'Srimathi Oka Baahumathi'.
In the new millennium, Visu switched on to character roles in hundreds of films and then garnered a huge fan following as a television reality show host through 'Arattai Arangam'.
Back in 2016, Visu dabbled with BJP.
IndiaGlitz extends deepest condolences to one of the most respected Tamil cinema legend's bereaved family.
