'Karthikeya 2' is in the news because a seasoned Bollywood actor has been roped in for a crucial role in the mystery thriller. Anupam Kher, known for a wide variety of roles, will be essaying a character named Dhanvantri in the Nikhil Siddhartha-starrer. Director Chandoo Mondeti has brought him on board because 'Karthikeya 2' will be released in multiple languages. This is Anupam's first Telugu movie in decades.

Starring also Anupama Parameswaran and Swathi Reddy, the film is produced by People Media Factory and Abhishek Agarwal's production house. Karthik Ghattamaneni is its cinematographer, while Kaala Bhairava is its music director.

The film has got mythological underpinnings. Releasing a concept video last March, the makers said that Karthikeya is back with a glimpse into the mysteries and secrets of the ancient mythological greatness of our culture. This VFX-heavy thriller, to be made on a high budget, will hit the screens in the second half of this year.

Its shoot is currently going on in Dwaraka.
