The Academy Awards nominations for 2017 has been announced with Guillermo del Toro's 'The Shape of Water' leading with 13 nominations which is the second highest in the history of the Oscars.  James Franco who was expected to get nominated in the Best Actor category for 'The Disaster Artist' was snubbed which some attribute to him being in the news for the wrong reason as five women alleged him of sexual abuse.  

Similarly Oscar regular Tom Hanks too missed out for his well recieved performance in Steven Speilberg's 'The Post'.  The monster hit 'Wonder Woman' directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot also failed to find favor this year. The 90th Academy Awards ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theater , Hollywood, California on the 4th of March 2018.
