Oscar winning Hollywood star Sean Penn's wife Leila George has filed for a divorce from the actor after over a year of marriage. Sean Penn, who has won two Academy Awards in his career, has also appeared on the popular TV sitcom Friends, where he played Lisa Kudrow's love interest in a couple of episodes.

Sean Penn began dating Australian actress Leila George in 2016 and they subsequently got married on July 30 last year in a private ceremony. He had announced the news during his appearance on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" in August the same year. Holding up his gold wedding band, Sean Penn informed Meyers that he had a Covid wedding. "It was a county commissioner on Zoom and we were at the house with my two children and her brother, and we did it that way," the 61-year-old had said back then.

Sean Penn, who has appeared in more than 50 films, has won several awards, including two Academy Awards for Best Actor for Mystic River (2003) and Milk (2008). The actor was married to Madonna for four years and then to actress Robin Wright, also for four years. He has two children, Dylan (30) and Hopper (28), with Wright.
