Abundantia Entertainment, India`s first independent motion pictures studio, built with the vision of producing and supporting progressive, high-quality entertainment content, has made strong strides, especially in its motion pictures business, in a short span of time.

Abundantia was founded in 2013 by Vikram Malhotra, (formerly COO - Viacom18 Motion Pictures) who built a formidable reputation by delivering new-age, clutter-breaking cinema and is the name behind some of the most memorable and successful films of recent years like 'Tanu Weds Manu', 'Kahaani', 'Gangs of Wasseypur', 'Special 26', 'OMG - Oh My God', 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', 'Madras Cafe' and 'Queen'. Along with Vikram, Abundantia boasts of a highly talented team with skills from both within and outside the media & entertainment industry.

Abundantia, through its partner company Crouching Tiger Motion Pictures, produced the recently-released, Neeraj Pandey directed and Akshay Kumar starrer, BABY` which met with tremendous critical acclaim as well as robust box-office numbers. Our next production Airlift`,which is a co-production with NikhilAdvani`s, Emmay Entertainment, has just wrapped up its second schedule.

Now, Abundantia is gearing up to remake the bestselling novel, Karachi, You`re Killing Me, written by Pakistani journalist Saba Imtiaz. The book, which became a roaring success upon its release, chronicles the life of Ayesha Khan, a progressive-thinking journalist in her late twenties, who drinks and smokes, putting her modern attitude in contrast to the city's orthodox elements.

Touted by the media as India's answer to the much acclaimed Hollywood film, Bridget Jones's Diary, work on the project is on in full-swing to adapt the book into a film script. Sharing more about the film, Vikram Malhotra, Founder and CEO of Abundantia says, "I read the book, the very day after I came across a review that described it as a cross between Bridget Jones's Diary and Diary Of A Social Butterfly. The quirky review compelled me to know more and I ended up reading the book on my kindle within 24 hours as the Indian edition was sold out in bookstores at that time."

The book, as described by the author, is a comedy of manners in a city with none. Adds Vikram, "The story excited me just like Vikas Bahl's 'Queen' had, when he`d shared it with me for the first time. I have full faith that 'Karachi....' will translate into a film that will resonate with today's audience, especially women as they will see lots of slices of their lives in it!"

Besides this, the young and passionate team at Abundantia is hard at work on a strong slate of films and the other attractions are equally solid and creatively sound. There is Nikhil Advani`s urban corporate drama Bazaar`, NishikantKamat`s untitled period mystery, SaatUchhakkey`, an edgy, comedy set in the charming world of Old Delhi, produced by Neeraj Pandey. Sharing more about the company`s plans, Vikram states, "Based on the model of talent-corporate partnership`, Abundantia has notched up an impressive slate of films that are under the patronage of experienced hands of directors like Neeraj Pandey, Nikhil Advani, ShoojitSircar and NishikantKamat, to name a few. This roster of A-list talent is blended with some of the finest upcoming writers and directors, making Abundantia a creative haven. Films like Airlift,a high-voltage period drama that brings to screen the untold story of the world`s largest evacuation ever and books like Karachi... are just the kind of content that we like to back and promote."
