About one lakh vaccinators trained for COVID-19 drive: Reports

Across the country, nearly one lakh vaccinators have been trained for the COVID-19 vaccination program that is set to start anytime this month. Media reports quoting official sources have said that as many as 30 crore Indians will be vaccinated by July. These are called priority individuals, who include people above the age of 50.

This Saturday (January 2), dry runs of vaccination will be held in every State and Union Territory. The Centre has been co-ordinating with each State, both collectively and separately, for the dry run. It's important for the run to be successful so that hiccups are detected in advance and contingency plans made for any unforeseen situations.

From technology to man power, everything has been beefed up for the January 2nd exercise.

In a statement on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that rumour-mongering is expected with respect to vaccines and inoculation drives. He suggested that people must be wary of them.
