A film on the life story - growth and death of yesteryears actress Minuguthaare Kalpana is made as ‘Abhinetri’ with Pooja Gandhi as ‘Amara Thare’. There is indirect reference to many of the top personalities but it is an impressive show from Pooja Gandhi in her maiden home production film.

The first biggest drawback is Pooja Gandhi Kannada dubbing. The accent of an NRI has suppressed the whole show. Diction this Mungaru Male heroine has not been able to follow strictly. A significant dubbing artist for dialogues would have strengthened this film ‘Abhinetri’. The photographs sent to media – Pooja Gandhi and Atul Kulkarni in hot moods – there are no such scenes in the film. The only intimate scene is between Pooja Gandhi and Ravishanker.

Debutant director Satish Pradan has followed the routine pattern of screenplay. There are no intriguing moments to hold the audience on their seats. The life of actress Kalpana is well known and Pooja Gandhi is not the right artist to take up such a heavy role.

From poverty to aristocracy – rise and fall of Latha who later becomes Nanda turns mentally sick mind. She does not come out from sickness till the end. From an ordinary dancer in a stage play Latha transform as a great actress. A few personalities in her life Krishnaraju, Shivaiah and Betegeri enter but the erratic mindset of popular actress Nanda take her to a pitiable condition. In a fit of anger Nanda making a star to wait for her as she is on top results in downfall of her career with another heroine Keerthi taking her position.

When Nanda thinks of family life, she decides to marry top theatre personality Betegeri Gangaraju, the contentment is not seen again. The tiff with Gangaraju finally leads to ‘Abhinetri’ suicide consuming sleeping tablets and a diamond powder. She dies in the same style of late Kalpana holding Sri Raghavendra Swamy photo, Mankuthimmana Kagga book on her chest.

Pooja Gandhi in a few sequences tried hard to ape former actress Kalpana. She looks glamorous but that is not enough. Achyuth Kumar, Ramesh Bhat, Ravishanker steal the show.

Mano Murthy has remained to the expectations with melody songs throughout. The title song ‘Abhinetri Horeteya...is haunting tune. KS Chandrasekhar in his camera lends expertise.

Score 5/10
