Abhinetra abhi netha - Ambarish

  • IndiaGlitz, [Wednesday,November 15 2006]

The proud son of Karnataka and Kannada filmdom quintessential personality the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ambarish says "Hindustani Ka Abhinetra Abhi Netha Hoo". He formed this statement speaking casually after the meet the press at Press Club of Bangalore on Tuesday at 11.30 am.

Ambarish has changed his living style was evident from his sharp 11.30 arrival to the meet the press today.

Here are the highlights of 40 minutes meet the press with actor turned minister Ambarish:

I would discuss with all the problems of the Kannada filmdom on December 4 and try to give a permanent solution. I have to attend the session as minister and go for canvassing of the Chamundeswari MLA by election.
I believe in 'Satya Meva Jayathe'.
I have got today's position because of my good nature.
The enjoyment from filmdom is not available in politics.
My voters in Mandya district are happy for my position as minister today. Something is better than nothing is what they say.
I do not have enemy in political and film career.
We fought for the primacy to Kannada filmdom in late 70's also. Within a radius of 20 to 50 meters of Kannada theatres other language films were screened. At the heart of cinema activities the theatres like Majestic, Geetha, Prabhat, Menaka, Kalpana, States, Sagar, Alankar, Kempegowda, Himalaya, Santosh, Narthaki, Sapna, Tribhuvan, Kailash, Kapali, Triveni, Aparna only a few theatres were screening other language films. Theatres like Geetha, Prabhat, Himalaya, Kempegowda, Alankar have been razed. The competition in our days from other languages was tough. But we fought.
Today in Cantonment and Brigade Road area we don't find Kannada.
In my days the distributors use to show the rushes of Kannada films to other languages. There was very good correlation.
I would work for the progress of Karnataka and Kannada filmdom.
What I have to do now is chalking out programs. Give me breathing time.
Not only for Kannada filmdom but for all other languages I would discuss and give the right share for them.
Ranganayaki is best role in cinema. That film ran because of Puttannaji. I am in the acting field since 34 years and I came to politics in 1996.
The producers used to force me to fight on screen. In a doctor role in the film 'Hrudaya Hadithu' I was against to action scene. They insisted that I should fight. I did that in two hours and satisfied the producers but I was not happy for a doctor fighting in the day light.
I would sit and discuss the problems in Doordarshan. To bring awareness in the rural pockets and give a fight to the private satellite channels we have to work out measures.
I am also with others for the classical tag to Kannada language.
I would not be lazy. I would not come late. Today is an example.
