A 58-year-old political and social activist of Pakistan, Mohammed Razzaq Chaudhry, witnessed one of the Indian aircraft that crossed the LoC on February 27 burst into flames, while he saw IAF pilot Abhinandan descend on a parachute from another, according to a report from Pakistan’s Dawn.

The report stated that the activist had sent a few youngsters to get hold of the pilot until the army personnel arrived. Abhinandan apparently asked one of the youngsters if he was in India or Pakistan, to which the boy replied he was in India. Following that, a few of the enraged boys shouted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ and attacked the IAF pilot with stones after he shouted some slogans supporting India, even as the Wing Commander shot his pistol in the fire, threatening the youngsters to back off. Abhinandan reportedly took a few documents containing sensitive material to a nearby river, where he tried to swallow a couple of them and submerge the rest. Meanwhile, he was shot in the leg by one of the boys. It was when the army personnel arrived and stopped the youngsters from attacking Abhinandan and took him into custody.

A Pakistani F-16 jet that violated the line of control early yesterday morning in the Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district was shot down in Indian retaliatory fire in Nowshera’s Lam valley. The Pakistani jets, however, dropped bombs near the Indian Army post in Rajouri sector while returning, although there are no reports of any casualties or collateral damage.
