Abhimanyu Singh is a very skilled but massively underutilized actor of Hindi cinema. He is best known for his electrifying performance in the film 'Gulal' and recently he was seen in Akshay Kumar's cop drama 'Sooryavanshi'. He portrayed the antagonist Riaaz Hafeez, an ideologically driven man who has a very twisted perspective. During a recent conversation with the news outlet IANS, Abhimanyu talked about what attracted him towards the role.
The actor said, "It is an opportunity given by Rohit Shetty to play the antagonist in his film. Everything on the set was so larger-than-life...My character is not a typical baddie, he has his own ideology, does things for his people and is very real with an emotional undercurrent."
'Sooryavanshi' was supposed to release just before the lockdown was imposed in India so apparantly it had been delayed for a really long time. Talking about the release, Abhimanyu said, "This is just an apt film for the audience to bounce back and live to get back to the normal cinema."
Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film also stars Katrina Kaif, Jaaved Jaaferi, Gulshan Grover, Jackie Shroff and Kumud Mishra among others.
