What is it about?
It is a love story of two singers.
Story
Aditya Roy Kapoor plays a top grade renowned singer. Now he is out of form and has become careless about his career. He has also become a drunkard, loses temper and gets into fights at the slightest provocation. His friend-secretary and other well wishers try to bring him on the right path, but he does not care. On a night, he sees Shraddha Kapoor singing at a bar. He is amazed to see she is singing his songs better than him. It is attraction at first sight. He takes Shraddha under his wings, coaches her and gets her break. Shraddha is genuinely talented and makes good. She is also absolutely devoted to Aditya. But Aditya is mentally troubled on being a sort of parasite on her. He is also ridiculed by people for exploiting Shraddha. He tries to reform himself. But can he? Or find some other solution.
What to look for?
The performances by Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor are up to mark. Shraddha is charming with her innocent looks. Aditya Roy Kapoor also does well though he does not look like an ideal choice for the role. Mohit Suri makes a brave attempt at a love story and succeeds to some extent.
What not?
Any kind of originality, as the film looks like inspired from the Hollywood classic "A Star Is Born" and also a poor take off on our classic "Abhimaan." It is also not a sequel to "Aashiqui" as the only connection between the two is both are love stories. "Aashiqui"s USP was its superb hit music. "Aashiqui 2" music is just average.
Conclusion
It is an ordinary product despite the association of big banners like T Series, Bhatt brothers, Mahesh and Mukesh as producers and Mohit Suri as director.
