“When I do run with the Olympic torch in New Delhi on April 17, it is not in support of China, but will be with a prayer in my heart for the people of Tibet”.

This is how Bollywood superstar Aamir khan reacted to the numerous requests urging him to boycott the relay.

Aamir also added that, he empathises and had the highest regard for the struggle of Tibetan people. Aamir said he got deeply upset when human rights were violated and when violence took place. He also said, he felt that the Olympic Games do not belong to China.

The superstar described Olympic Games as a platform for the people and sportspersons to come together to present their talents inspite of differences and difficulties.

Tennis ace Leander Paes, former super cop Kiran Bedi and former Olympic football captain P.K. Banerjee will share pride with Aamir in running with the Olympic torch.

P.K. Banerjee who is 71 with his health fading is participating as a matter of honour and pride. Ace footballer Baichung Bhutia refused to run due to the Tibetan issue.

“I am no one to tell any group of people how they should conduct their struggle. I am not part of it and am not going through what they are going through. But my heart goes out to them,” the versatile Bollywood star said when queried about the Tibetian issue.
