Do you remember Faisal Khan, the handsome and macho brother of actor Aamir Khan, who acted opposite him in the action comedy movie MELA (2000) also staring Twinkle Khanna?
Well most of the film buffs must have forgotten him because like the movie MELA, Faisal Khan too has had a disastrous career at the box office. Nevertheless the actor in him is still alive and Faisal after a long spell of over nine years will be seen again on the silver screen in the romantic film CHINAR: DAASTAAN-E-ISHQ, a love store exploring the natural beauty of Kasmir.
Faisal Khan, who began his career as a child star in 1966 with his father Tahir Hussain`s film PYAR KA MAUSAM, has always had an awful career. In fact even his debut movie MADHOSH, as a solo hero was failure. Later his film MELA with Aamir Khan too failed. Hence he quit acting.
Though Faisal`s films may have been utter failures but as an actor Faisal had displayed his charm as a competent actor. Remember his last film CHAND BUJH GAYA (2005) that exposed the mysteries of Gujarat's Godhra incident in 2005. Faisal had won rave reviews for his sensitive performance but alas the movie too flopped and Faisal was back in doldrums.
However Sharique Minhaj, who directed Faisal in his last film 'CHAND BUJH GAYA', has not lost faith in Faisal as an actor hence he has roped him in the film that also stars prominent actors like Inayaat Sharma, Dilip Tahil, Pramod Moutho, Shahbaaz Khan amongst others.
CHINAR - DAASTAAN-E-ISHQ is based on a novel JHEEL JALTI HAI by eminent writer Khwaja Farooq Ranzu Shah. Faisal has a terrific role in the film. He says, "Actually I had bid adieu to acting but when director Sharique Minhaj narrated my role of a jilted lover, who sacrifices his life to unite two lovers I was overwhelmed and I nodded."
