Bollywood star Aamir Khan and his ex-wife Kiran Rao, who announced their separation in July this year, came together to celebrate their son Azad Rao Khan’s 9th birthday.

Sharing pictures from the celebration, which was also attended by Aamir Khan’s elder son Junaid Khan, author-columnist Shobhaa De wrote, “#portraitsbyde A warm and wonderful evening with scrumptious ghar ka khaana #togetherness #famjam @aamirkhanproductions.” Months after celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao announced their divorce in July this year in a statement jointly released on social media. The couple had said that they would continue to be devoted parents to their son Azad. Aamir and Kiran got married on December 28, 2005 and the couple welcomed Azad through a surrogate mother on December 5, 2011. 

“In these 15 beautiful years together we have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy and laughter, and our relationship has only grown in trust, respect and love. Now we would like to begin a new chapter in our lives - no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other. We began a planned separation some time ago, and now feel comfortable to formalise this arrangement, of living separately yet sharing our lives the way an extended family does. We remain devoted parents to our son Azad, who we will nurture and raise together,” they had mentioned in their statement.
