As expected, 'Mumbai Can Dance Saala' and 'Take It Easy' turned out to be disasters at the box office. This pretty much continues the rituals as far as new releases of the New Year are concerned. There wasn't anything going for these two films which arrived without any promotion whatsoever and didn't have any notable names attached to them. As a matter of fact it was rather surprising that they actually managed to get some kind of release as usually, films with such stage and setting disappear completely inside a crowd of five-six films that arrive together over a weekend.
Meanwhile, it was PK that continued to mint moolah with around 25 crore coming in over the weekend, hence resulting in 300 crore total being crossed. This is historic indeed as Aamir Khan is the founding member of 100 crore (Ghajini) and 200 crore (3 Idiots) club as well. Meanwhile, Rajkumar Hirani has reaffirmed his place firm as the Numero Uno filmmaker today when it comes to repute meeting commerce. As for Vidhu Vinod Chopra, he is truly one of the only surviving filmmakers from the 80s to see such dazzling heights in his career at this age.
The film carries good potential to surpass the 320 crore mark and it should take a Salman Khan to go anywhere close to that (or cross that) with Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo this year.
