Aamir Khan: Found hardcore fans in Beijing, Shanghai

  • IndiaGlitz, [Monday,May 25 2015]

B-town perfectionist Aamir Khan gets candid after his inspiring visit from China and the premiere of b-town's biggest blockbuster 'PK' in China. B-town's refined talent with a razor sharp eye to perfections and promotions peaks his heart out about his meeting with Jackie Chan and China's love for Bollywood.

In a rare occasion the founder member of Bollywood's coveted 200, 300 crore club also throws some weight' on his next most eagerly awaited Dangal'.

China Experience

I went for five days but overstayed for two more days. Chinese are dedicated audience. during the screening of P.K. they asked me why I had put on weight. It told them it was for a movie called Dangal' that I am doing.

Meeting Jackie Chan

I have been a fan of Jackie Chan since Police Story -2. I enjoy his stunts and comedy. I told Jackie Chan how popular he is in India. I would love to do Indo-Chinese collaboration. If I am approached with the right script I don't mind doing it. I can learn martial arts even at the age of 50. I was offered a film with him earlier but I was shooting for 3 Idiots and they wanted to start shooting at the end of the year.

It seems you are a star in China also

I found my hardcore fans in Beijeing and Shanghai. I believed Chinese have only seen 3 Idiots before P.K. but was surprised to learn that people have also seen Taare Zameen Par, Earth, Lagaan and Ghajini.

How different is your Chinese fan from India.

On a human level they are the same. What I found interesting was their commitment in spite of the language barrier and not much knowledge about Bollywood/Indian cinema. They make an effort to watch our films. I am against piracy but most of my audience in China have watched films on pirated DVD's or downloaded it. They take pains to search our films.

This tells a lot about them.

Has this motivated you to release your future films in China

I will try to release my films there. They have a guild system there.. only 40 films can be released. They have a period during which we can send our films. They have their own censors regarding foreign language films. We will have to work hard towards releasing our films in a much better way in China.

A certain western, European mindset has a stereotype feeling towards India, Indians and Indian cinema... any such sentiments noticed in China.

I didn't see any such negative feelings. Buddhism has a strong Indian connection though there is also a lot of atheism there, a stereotype feeling towards India, Indian and its cinema was fortunately not noticed.

Have you seen any Chinese films

Not much. I saw Wonker and Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger.

Our Prime Minister was also there did you meet him

We were in the same city but we didn't meet. Modiji is trying to bring the two countries closer he's trying to develop the Economic ties. I think through films we can bring the countries closer.

You have put on 27 kilos extra.. does it bother you.. how you carry yourself

I feel very heavy. I feel breathless. My ideal weight is 68kgs but I am now 95 kgs. On a daily basis my body is carrying 27 kilos extra. That means my heart is pumping 27 times more and my knees are carrying 27 kilos extra. So when I bend down to tie my shoe laces I feel breathless. My mom and Kiran are worried and feel I am playing with my health. Even I am worried. . I have become slow. I have not taken any doctors advice as they will advise me not to do it.

I am very passionate about my roles and I am averse to using prosthetics. I eat Sev Puri and Samosa's because I gain calories. I have turned vegan and I am on a strict vegan diet, I don't even consume milk products. Now I can truly say I am the biggest actor in India in size...

What is the deadline to be back in shape

I will shoot till December in this size and I will be back to my original size in June because I will be shooting for the scenes where I am shown as a fit instructor. I will have to be fit like I was in P.K.

25 percent of the film is from the age of 25 to 27 years where I will be very fit and in shape because I am shown as the competitive wrestler. My life goes through a journey from 25 years and then 40 years and 50% of the film will be in 55 years of age.

Have all the girls who play your daughters been finalized

I will have four daughters in the film between the age group of 12 to 14 and casting will be done accordingly and from the age of 22 to 24. We have done the casting of 22 to 24 age group and already finalized Fatima Shaikh, Sanaa and Sania Malhotra.

The best compliment you received in China

They said that they liked my eyes. I told them Chinese food is popular even in the rural villages and they were happy.
