Aamir Khan suggested Nikhil Advani to rewrite some of the English dialogues in Hindi, a lesson that he learnt from personal experience.

Katti Batti's Director, Nikhil Advani showed the rushes of his upcoming film to Aamir Khan for advice. After seeing the films rushes, Aamir felt that as the film consisted of a lot of dialogues in English, it would be better if they were translated into Hindi in order to build audience connect.

After considering Aamir's suggestion, Nikhil was in complete agreement to the prescribed changes and toned down the English dialogues. Nikhil Adds, "Aamir said a considerable chunk of the audience did not know that he had made a film called '3 Idiots' (2009). The Hindi-speaking people thought the film`s name was Aal is well` (because of the catchy song in the film).

They did not connect with the '3 Idiots' title since it was in English. So, Aamir felt it was better to stick to Hindi so as to be able to widen our audience reach."

Interestingly, Imran Khan, who is Aamir`s nephew and plays the lead role in the film opposite Kangana Ranaut, had offered the same suggestion to Nikhil while shooting."

Imran further added, "I used to request Nikhil on a daily basis to rewrite English lines in Hindi. He would then ask me to do it. If you want to reach out to a bigger audience, then it is important to have Hindi lines," says Imran.

However, even as Imran rewrote a few lines, his Maamujaan still thought English had been overused in dialogue writing, the young actor says, adding that he later dubbed for the re-written dialogues in Hindi, while Kangana`s lines remained unchanged.

'Katti Batti' is all set to release in theatres on 18th September.
