The battle of the 100 crore for the year 2013.. Correction 200 crore for superstars is reaching its climax this month. All eyes are set for the most eagerly awaited and the most popular b-town franchise - Dhoom 3 coming from India’s premium production house YRF and starring Aamir Khan in the lead - the B-town trendsetter not only as an actor, promoter but also the pioneer of the B-town 200 crore club (3 Idiots).

This Eid King Khan threatened the throne by a swashbuckling performance with his Chennai Express which collected 226 crore domestically beating 3 Idiots by a margin of 24 crores after four years.

India’s desi super hero Hrithik Roshan with Krrish 3 broke it within four months by releasing in around 3900 screens in India plus 1,000 screens overseas.

India's superhero flick, Krrish 3 did a robust performance like a superhero at the box office and triumphed with mind blogging domestic collections of Rs 235.22 crore net edging Chennai Express to the second slot by a difference of 9 crore.

So will the magician Aamir Khan take over the superhero Hrithik at the box office this Christmas...

Considering the aggressive promotions, the strength of 1,200 multiplex screens and 12,000 single screens in India, the price hike for biggies twined with a big festival holiday release - box office records can change as seasons so now the once impossible figure of 200 is quite achievable for projects backed by superstars like Aamir, SRK, Salman, Hrithik.

But the catch over here is Dhoom3 is not a holiday release it’s a normal Friday release so it misses the major festival holiday weekend support.

But the tremendous curiosity associated with the year’s most touted money spinning franchise from India’s premium production house YRF in its third avatar is swelling in interest minute by minute - screened in 2D and IMAX formats, the ticket prices for the IMAX version range between Rs.700 and Rs.900. so the cover up for the non festival release has being taken care very smartly.

Going by the initial advance booking reports which is phenomenal at multiplexes and single-screens across India, the buzz is outstandingly exceptional and that too after absence of its star cast like Katrina, Abhishek, Uday on small screen reality shows is an extraordinary achievement in today’s age of vigorous promotions. Highlighting the interest and buzz in caps and bold amongst the audience. Chennai Express and Krrish3 bombarded the small screen like the U.S. bombing of Afghanistan. Dhoom 3 is comparatively very silent on this front and look at the advance it’s historic.

Dhoom 3 is expected to open in 3,000 screens. The franchise has already surpassed Krrish 3 in the number of screen counts in south India which includes the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions.

With Pakistan welcoming the franchise with open arms after the ban and planning to release it on the same day 20th of December 2013. All roads now lead towards the crowning glory of B-town most popular and awaited franchise story in its third installment.

Lets wait and watch how the magician Aamiir Khan overcomes the super hero Hrithik with Dhoom 3. As he says in one of those teasers - ‘Its Show Time’.

Definitely it’s show time and grand finale for 2013 as the countdown for the final deciding phase for Box Office battle royal 2013 kicks off this Friday the 20th.

Aamir and YRF ‘Talaash’ for B.O. supremacy should end with a Dhoom of how many crores in how many days needs to be seen.
