The once peaceful Jallikattu protests, turned violent and ugly on Monday inducing Police charge that left the State in temporary turmoil. While the police claim that the anti-social elements have intruded into the protest and that's why they had to resort to violence, opposition parties and activists are criticising the alleged "police excess".
There is a however a different side to this story. In a recent news footage, a woman Police was shown sobbing after protesters inflamed a Police Station. She is identified as the head constable of a police station in Chennai which was allegedly set on fire by miscreants. Now, woman cop has revealed to a team of officers that she was molested by the protesters who set the building on fire.
When faced with outnumbered miscreants in the name of protesters who not only pelted stones, but also touched her inappropriately, the woman Police had ran into the station and alerted the control room.
She was later backed up by a team, who had also chased away the violent protesters.
Hearing the report, the Police Commissioner has ordered a detailed inquiry on the incident.
