Vijay held a press meet recently to make things clear about his political entry. Here are few extracts of what he shared with the media and his fans...

“I started “Makkal Iyakkam” to boost up the good deeds my fans were doing through my fans’ club on a big scale. I want to improve our State. As I was held up with the shoot of 'Vettaikkaran', I was not so keen to answer for the issues raised about my political entry. I have to say that media made me to sit and think ‘How will it be if these speculations turn out to be true?’ But then I will have to thank every media person for their support that boosted my growth”, he said appreciatively.

When asked about his unexpected meet up with Rahul Gandhi, “I was invited to meet Rahul Gandhi through one of my well-wisher. I cancelled a day’s shooting and went along with my dad to meet Rahulji as we felt it was a good opportunity. I was surprised by the way he welcomed us that day. I was very happy to know how hard they are trying to bring up our nation,” the actor informed.

Vijay did not reveal the name or identity of the well-wisher who helped him to meet Rahul Gandhi. However he told that the well-wisher was the one who explained about “Makkal Iyakkam” to Rahul and got an appointment to meet him in person.

“We were talking for about one hour. Rahulji asked about many things including my films, my career and about Makkal Iyakkam,” he claimed as we prodded him about their meeting.

On his entry into politics, he stated, “It’s not that in this single meeting I have decided something big. I will always take the feed back from my fans, public and everyone in every step I take. This meeting is to clarify that am not joining anyone and I am not into any party.”

When asked about the party he would choose and about his take on Tamils allover the world he said, “In future, I will think about joining hands with the government which is in goodwill and support for Tamils all over the world. I have to say that it is because of them I’m in this position and I will not deny it. I will use all my strength to strive hard for their well being.”

“Simultaneously we will build the strength of Makkal Iyakkam,” the actor concluded.

Everything regarding Vijay’s political entry seems to be vague, as the actor never confirmed any of his political plans. We will have to wait and see…
