In an exclusive interview to Indiaglitz, A.Radhika, District Secretary of All India Democratic Women`s Association, Coimbatore stated that their war against Silambarasan and Anirudh for Beep` song will put an end to the women bashing and the demeaning portrayal of the fairer sex in cinema.
"Women bashing and insulting women is becoming a fashion in Tamil cinema. Our organization has been compiling date and we have started a survey regarding this. We do not have anything personal against Silambarsan and Anirudh. Our action against them is intended to put an end to all forms of women bashing in cinema." Radhika said.
Her organization was the first to file a police complaint against Silambarsan and Anirudh for the controversial Beep song whose lyrics had cuss words offending women. Summons have been issued to the two young celebrities to appear in Race Course Police Station in Coimbatore, on or before December 18, 2015 based on this charge.
Complaints have been booked under three charges on Simbu and Anirudh. "We have lodged a case against Simbu and Anirudh under IPC Section 67 which deals with misuse of Information Technology. This is a non-bailable charge. Two other cases for belittling women have also been filed." confirmed Radhika.
Simbu in his initial reaction to the controversy had stated that the song was his private composition that was not meant for public release. He had also said no one have the rights to dictate him on what to write and how to write.
Reacting to this, Radhika said Simbu`s defense, citing privacy is much worse than the song itself. "Instead of expressing regret for having written a song offensive of women. Simbu is defending it in the name of privacy. This is much worse than the song itself. Demeaning women in private, even in one`s bathroom is condemnable. "
Radhika also expressed disappointment over T.Rajendhar, the father of Silambarsan for shielding his son. "As a father T.Rajendhar should have condemned his son for causing insult to women by this song. But he is trying to defend his son`s act."
Regarding Anirudh Ravichander`s claim that he did not compose music for the song, Radhika said, "TR`s complaint contradicts with Anirudh`s statement and this itself convinces us that Anirudh has been a part of the song. If his claim was true let him prove his innocence in the court."
