I will be the sacrificial goat - A.R. Rahmans strong statement after Marukkuma Nenjam concert mishap

Isaipuyal A.R. Rahman who has been conducting several live concerts in recent times was supposed to perform in Chennai in August but the show was washed out due to heavy rains. The concert titled 'Marakkuma Nenjam' was later scheduled on September 10th at the same venue in Pannaiyur, Chennai.

However due to some glitch in the management of the show it was alleged that the music lovers and ARR fans went through a lot of trouble due to over-allotment of tickets for the concert. It was also said that people who bought tickets up to 5000 rupees were unable to watch. It was further alleged that the event coordinators did not provide proper facilities including parking which turned out to be a horrifying experience for those who paid high ticket prices.

The company that organized the concert has apologized after the videos of the incident went viral on the internet. Apart from that, DGP Shankar Jiwal of Tamil Nadu also said that an explanation will be sought from them.

Rahman today took to X to release a strong statement "Dearest Chennai Makkale, those of you who purchased tickets and weren’t able to enter owing to unfortunate circumstances, please do share a copy of your ticket purchase to arr4chennai@btos.in along with your grievances. Our team will respond asap"

The Oscar Winner added on Instagram "some people call me G.O.A.T …………let me be the sacrificial goat this time for all of us to wake up ..let chennai’s live art flourish with a world class infrastructure, increase in tourism, efficient crowd management, traffic management ,refining audiences to follow rules ..creating a safe and surreal experience for children and women ..Triggering a cultural renaissance at chennai celebrating our deserving ,illuminated local and international talent "

It is worth mentioning that ARR stressed the need for better infrastructure to nurture the entertainment industry especially musicians and singers when the 'Marakkuma Nenjam" show was first cancelled in August due to rains. He had hoped for an indoor stadium like the ones abroad that can give fans a rewarding experience.

On the movies front A.R. Rahman's upcoming films include Rajinikanth's 'Lal Salaam', Sivakarthikeyan's 'Ayalaan', Vijay Sethupathi's 'Gandhi Talks', Jayam Ravi's 'Genie' , Dhanush's 'D50' and Kamal Haasan - Mani Ratnam's 'KH 234'.
