However a Mayor of Canda voluntarily offered citizenship in that country to A.R. Rahman a couple of years back and the maestro's reply is awesome and shows how patriotic he is to Tamil Nadu and India.
The Isaipuyal's reply reads "Thank you for your kind invitation to set up a base in Canada, Mr Mayor. I'm indeed very touched and moved by your gesture. I'm well settled and happy in Tamil Nadu, India with my family, friends and the people there. Do visit our KM Music Conservatory when you come to India the next time. I will also look into interesting artistic collaborations between Canada and India."
The Canadian government has honored A.R. Rahman by naming a street after him in the state of Ontario. His next films in Tamil are 'Thalapathy 63' , Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan' and Sivakarthikeyan's untitled SciFi film.
