Yesterday, the Association of Surgeons, Chennai had complained to the Chennai Police Commissioner that music composer AR Raghuman received Rs 25 lakhs for conducting a concert and did not conduct the show and is refusing to return the money.
A company called The Group headed by Rahman's manager Senthil Velan has clarified that A.R. Rahman has nothing to do with the issue and the compalint has been made to tarnish his image.
According to the statement The Group was contacted to conduct a concert on behalf of ASICON 2018 Chennai for a three day event in 2018. It was agreed that A.R. Rahman will perform on one of the days followed by other cultural events on the other days. The organization paid the group rupees twenty five lakhs as advance and the agreement stated that if the event was cancelled there would be no refund.
However the ASICON heads had allegedely first cancelled A.R. Rahman's concert citing heavy costs and later they cancelled the entire event after The Group started the preperatory work. Senthil Velan then said that after a few years one of the organizers asked him for a cheque of the same amount to adjust some disparities in the accounting on the promise that he will not encash it.
But now the person had broken his promise and lodged the case and The Group has stated it will face the issue legally. The Isaipuyal fans have heaved a sigh of relief as only a couple of weeks back the Marakkuma Nenjam controversy where also Rahman was not at fault was unecessarily targetted.
