England cricketer and Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Sam Curran impressed cricket viewers across the world with his spectacular performance in the last couple of seasons of IPL. The youngster has also played a significant role in CSK's victory in several of their matches.
Sam Curran, who plays under MS Dhoni's captaincy in the team, recently claimed that that Dhoni has got a big presence in the game and one would want to learn much from him. "A player like Dhoni, he's got such a big presence in the game. He's achieved so many amazing things. Naturally, you get confidence from that. There's nothing better for me as a younger player to get put in those scenarios. It wasn't the best season for the team but you learn so much and obviously, this season when the IPL was going ahead (in India), we were second on the table," Sam Curran was reportedly quoted as saying.
Speaking about the dressing room atmosphere, the 23-year-old cricketer mentioned, "I got thrown into it quite young, moved from Kings XI to Chennai, which worked out pretty well in terms of coming to a team where you had Stephen Fleming as a coach, MS Dhoni as captain, some big foreign players. It's just an environment where you eat and sleep cricket. You're always around the guys and you can ask questions, see how guys train, learn new tricks."
"It (CSK) is a great franchise and hopefully, I can contribute more in the coming years," the all-rounder concluded. Besides scoring 186 runs in IPL 2020, Sam Curran also picked up a total of 13 wickets in the season. CSK, currently placed at the second position on the points table, will be taking on defending champions Mumbai Indians on September 19 during the second half of the league.
