First, Bollywood celebrated Rs. 100 Cr club. A few years later, it was Tollywood and Kollywood's turn to celebrate the entry of a big film into that club.
Cut to 2017, we are going to celebrate yet another Rs. 100 Cr club. That is, the US billion club! 'Baahubali-2' is doing that in a couple of days.
After recently pipping the extant highest record held by 'Dangal', the magnum opus is set to cross the one billion mark in rupee terms in that country. It's expected that, by the end of tomorrow (May 7), the film will have achieved this. Even yesterday (which was 8th day, excluding premieres' day), the film reportedly mopped up USD 0.5 Million!
The Hindi version's first week's net collections of the movie surpassed that of 'Dangal' and 'Sultan' by Rs. 50 Cr and Rs. 28 Cr, respectively!
So far, four Hindi-language films have netted Rs. 300 Cr, they being 'PK', 'Dangal', 'Sultan' and 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan'. 'Baahubali-2' (Hindi version alone) will be the fifth one to join the club.
