A baby faced tragic death after falling down during delivery in a private hospital in Coimbatore. Angry relatives along with public surrounded the hospital and started protesting against the hospital management, following which police arrived at the location to clear the protest.

Vikram, a 26 year old software Engineer from Pothanur, Coimbatore had admitted his pregnant wife Pavithra(25) in a private hospital on February 2. She had given birth to a boy two days back, early morning. However she was not informed of her baby and the doctors did not let her parents or herself to see the baby. When asked, the doctors had said that since the child was not healthy, he was placed in incubator, and that after treatment he will be fine.

However, yesterday noon, the doctors had called Vikram and informed that his child was dead, following which Vikram started making arrangements for the final rites. A nurse had accompanied Vikram to the place, and the baby was wrapped with a towel, and when removed, there was blood over the head and chest of the baby. Following this, the angry relatives went to the hospital and questioned them how the child died, and as police suspected the death, they were suggested of a post mortem. However as Vikram did not want the post mortem of a new born baby, the relatives left the hospital. While the relatives are insisting that the hospital staff must have dropped the baby during delivery, the hospital staff say that the baby had no movements after delivery itself.
