A 35 year old rowdy sheeter from Pen area of Raigad district in Maharashtra, who was arrested and in jail for raping a woman, was released ten days ago on parole. Now this man had committed another crime and that made headlines.

The accused has been arrested on Wednesday for raping a three year old girl in the Pen area. The incident happened in wee hours on December 30 when the victim was asleep in her parents' shanty in the Adivasi pada Badgaon area of Pen. The shanty didn't have any doors.

The accused, identified as Aadesh Patil, was released around ten days ago on parole in a rape case. He also has cases of housebreaking, theft, assault and also was externed once by the Raigad police.

According to police, the victim was asleep near the shanty when Patil picked her up and went into the forest area behind a school. Patil then allegedly raped and killed the victim. He was spotted by the victim's grandmother when he went back near the shanty to keep her body.

The grandmother raised an alarm but Patil managed to flee the spot. The Pen police then launched a manhunt and nabbed Patil within a few hours from Pen itself. He has been booked for rape, murder and under several sections of the POCSO (Protection of Children against Sexual Offences) Act.

The incident was followed by major protests in the township and local leaders demanded strict action be taken against the accused
