A maiden effort

Debutant director Avira Rebecca is getting ready with her maiden venture Thakarachenda, which focusses on a group of slum dwellers whose faces are lost in the madding crowds in the society.

Sreenivasan and Geetu Mohandas play the protagonists in the film. 'In the film, the slum dwellers are being evicted as part of the efforts to beautify the city. It only adds to the agony of the impoverished people whose pleas for help often fall on deafears,' explains the director. Sreenivasan, who plays the lead role, says, 'no attempts have been made to mould it as a typical off beat filmor even as a full fledged commercial film and that is something heartening'.

'The film narrates the tale of a section of society that everyone would like to forget. In fact, after reading the script, I felt that the film would be appreciated more for its theme than the his trionic brilliance of the actors involved', headds.
