As predicted by the trade, Jayaram's 'Veruthe Oru Bharya' which was released a month before Onam, has emerged as the biggest grosser during the festival season. The movie with its intense marketing and good word of mouth has become the favorite film for the season, for every household.

The distributors of the movie Pyramid Saimira has embarked on a different type of promotion for the movie on Onam days, where viewers will get a chance to receive gifts while watching the movie in a fore said period. Through this contest starting this 12th to the 22nd of this month, Pyramid Saimira is offering Washing machines, Mixer grinders, Iron Boxs, and Onam dress kits for those selected, from the viewers of the season.

Among the Onam releases, Renjith’s ‘Thirakkatha’ is the only film that has managed to open with note worthy collections. The other two movies 'Thalappavu' and Suresh Gopi's ‘Thavalam' made a Lukewarm start during the Onam days.

As per the initial indications, both these movies will find it hard to emerge as a profit maker.
