A film by Bharathiraja

The words ‘brimming with enthusiasm’ would be no exaggeration to describe Bharathiraja, the man who changed the face of Tamil cinema three decades ago. Times have changed, but changed not is the director’s optimism.

After a break (his last venture in big screen was 'Bommalattam'), he is now ready to wield the megaphone again, for a film titled ‘Appan Aatha’. “It is the story of an innocent father and mother who hail from a village in Tamil Nadu,” he says.

Throwing more light on his ‘dream project’, Bharathiraja says, “Parents always dream a bright career for their children. But what would happen if their wards change path. This is the crux of my film.”

Busy directing ‘Therkkathi Ponnu’, a television serial for a popular channel, the filmmaker says, “I don’t see any big difference between cinema and TV. Both are mediums and we can reach the people.”
