Finally Kalabhavan`s lifestory may soon turn into a film. It is made by none other than director Vinayan who gave Mani characters that brought out his mettle as an actor. Vinayan`s film Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum pinne njanum` and Karumadikuttan` are prominent characters in his career. It was expected that Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum` would bag him a national award. Everyone expected it and especially Mani`s expectations were also high. When it was announced, it went to some other actor and Mani on hearing it fainted.

Mani acted in Vinayan`s many films starting from Kalyana Saughandkam`. Recently in the IFFK 2016 Vinayan raised the issue of Mani saying that Mani was avoided in the festival and he didn`t get the deserved respects. Vinayan has also in the pipeline another film based on the historical character Cherthala Nangeli who cut her breast against the cast system and inhuman breast tax in the erstwhile kingdom of Travancore.
