'Singham' that stars Ajay Devghn and Kajal Agarwal in the lead roles is all set to release on July 22. But the makers of the original Tamil version, 'Singam' have approached the Madras High Court for a ban in the release of this Ajay Devghn starrer. IG tells you why....

The Tamil version, 'Singam' that released last year was a blockbuster hit, running successfully in theatres for more than hundred days. The film saw Anushka Shetty cast opposite Suriya, and was directed by Hari. It was produced by Gnanavel Raja in an association with Reliance Big Pictures.

While seeking a ban, he cited the following: "The Hindi remake rights were given to Reliance Big Pictures. Then, we came to an agreement with Reliance that when they sell the movie, 25% of the money should be given to us. The movie has now been sold for 80 crore rupees. They're to give us the 25% in it, meaning, 12. 5 crore rupees. But, without even paying up the money they planning to release the movie, and hence, we request a ban in the release of Singham."

The judge ordered that a notice should be sent to the producers of 'Singham' and demanded a response from the latter, to take things further.
