Samantha's '96' officially announced

We had brought you the news very early that Samantha would be playing Trisha's iconic Jaanu character in the Telugu remake of the cult classic '96'. It has now been officially confirmed by producers Shri Venkateshwara Creations.
Sharwanand plays Ram in the '96' remake replacing Vijay Sethupathi in the original and Premkumar himself is helming the film. As we reported the school portions in the film involving Aditya Bhaskar and Gowri Kishan has been removed and instead Sam and Sharwanand will play their younger versions as college kids. Shooting starts in March and is expected to release during Diwali this year.
